Minimize Your Home Maintenance Time

With longer days and warmer months upon us, most of our thoughts have turn to backyard barbeques, vacations, and summer activities. To maximize your fun in the sun time, take a peek at this AHS.com checklist to minimize your home maintenance time.

If you haven’t already, make sure to walk around your new home in Dayton to inspect for and cut back any over grown vegetation from your home’s exterior and fences.

Inspect decks, patios, and porches. Repair any loose railing or boards. Apply a water sealant to wood decks to protect them from summer rain and sun damage.

Check your home’s exterior siding and apply caulk and paint where needed.

Check your home’s brick tuckpointing and inspect your foundation for cracks or leaks. Foundation cracks can create an entry point for groundwater and insects. Repair as needed.

Have a qualified air condition professional service your A/C unit to avoid any unwanted disruptions in service when hot weather really sets in.

Remember to change your HVAC filters on a monthly basis for optimal performance of your A/C unit.

Choose a cooler day and inspect your roof for any missing, loose, or damaged shingles.

Check your fence. Repair or replace any missing or damaged boards. Stain and seal as needed.

Clean, inspect and repair outdoor furniture and play equipment.

Clean out gutters and downspouts to avoid damage during summer thunderstorms.
