Peebles Homes - new homes in Dayton

Fall Home Maintenace

You can feel the evening nip in the air. The days are getting shorter, evenings cooler, and leaves are starting to turn. As our thoughts turn to Halloween fun and Thanksgiving festivities, so should our plans for preparing our new home Dayton for the upcoming winter months.

At Infinity Homes of Southern Indiana, we love our Realtor partners and are excited to share their annual fall maintenance checklist courtesy of HouseLogic by REALTORS® plus a few of our own!

  1.  Clean and stow your mower
  2.  Service your snow blower
  3.  Remove garden hoses from faucets
  4.  Drain and blow out your sprinkler system
  5.  Seal air leaks with color matched or clear exterior caulk
  6.  Remove debris from gutters – don’t forget the gutter spouts
  7.  Safely check your roof for damaged shingles, black algae stains, and vent flashing
  8.  Have your furnace and fireplace serviced so you’re ready for the first cold night
  9.  Purchase a supply of appropriately sized furnace filters and plan to change on a monthly basis
  10.  Check your smoke detectors and replace batteries
  11.  Check and replace your fire extinguishers
  12.  Trim plants and trees and remove leaves and debris from your yard and around your home
  13.  Cut your grass shorter
  14.  Aerate your lawn
  15.  Apply a winter weed and feed to your lawn
  16.  Apply a water sealant (we like Thompson’s Water Seal) to your patio, porch and driveway to prevent concrete spalling
  17.  Move any paint you’ve been storing in your garage to the interior of you home to prevent freezing
  18.  Clean and store lawn furniture in preparation for next spring
  19.  Prepare a winter driving kit and store it in your car
  20.  Pick up a supply of fresh wood for winter firepits with roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate
